Il Duomo
Title
Il Duomo
Description
Filippo Brunelleschi is considered one of the greatest Renaissance architects. He believed in the use of balance and harmony in buildings, and his designs evoked Classical principles rather than the towering spires of Gothic architecture. He traveled to Rome to study classical architecture and is perhaps best known for his dome for the Florence Cathedral. This feat of engineering was meticulously designed and is still considered a foundation of Renaissance architecture and the Classical revival in general.
